INTIMACY by Theodóra Alfreðsdóttir
The cups encourage intimacy between the individuals that drink from them. Each cup is a half a circle and can stand alone, but when the cups come together they unite and become whole.
The cups signify the friendship between women in the 1900s. At the time women usually worked at home, so when they had a free time they popped out to each other and had a cup of coee together. Over that coee they shared their hopes and dreams and developed a great trust and a strong relationship.
On the at surface between them you can imagine something that only remains between the two coee drinkers. The form of the handles comes from a cup that newlyweds used to drink from in their wedding to conrm their union.
